Hayley sits up suddenly in her cold, uncomforable cot. Something had woken her up, but she didn’t know what. Maybe it was Hannah, who was sleeping next to her. She got out of bed and skipped over the red laser beams, visible by the excruciating amount of dust on the floor. As she did this, routinely every night, she wondered how such a poor orphanage could afford high-tech laserbeams, but not beds. And how so much dust collected, when the children walked the floors everyday. It was all a mystery; a mystery that wouldn’t be solved.

Chapter 1
As Hayley crossed the room, toward the water basin, she felt something. It was a sense of nothingness. She felt empty, like a used soda can, lying by the side of the road. When she had reached her destination, she leaned o ver and took a sip from the fountain. The cool, comforting water soothed her chapped lips and filled the feeling of nothingness. Satisfied, she lept across the room, and hopped into her cot. But she was already dreaming, and she jumped into a soft, cozy bet with a big, airy, puffy blanket with a warm feeling inside.
Chapter 2
When she woke up, she realized that it was just a dream. She got out of bed, feeling somewhat refreshed, and went back to the water basin. The lasers were gone, and she took the basing and sloshed the water out the window. It was her daily chore to refill the water basin. The climbed out the window, slid down the marble (?) roof, and jumped onto the soft dirt outside the orphanage. It was grassy in the front yard, but just dirt in the back. Luckily, it was soft dirt, and she ran over the wishing well, happily kicking up the dust. She got to the wishing well, and started counting. 46 seconds! she thought, it’s a new record! The well was about 100 feet deep, so 46 seconds was really fast. (The well was also VERY old, about 262.3 years!) She took a rope from her pocket, swung it up in the window and onto her bedpost, and she lifted up the rope and quickly pulled it back down, and got right back on the roof, and climbed up using the rope. She smiled to herself at her little trick.
She put the basin on the counter and got dressed. She then went down stairs, to eat breakfast. They were serving fish stick today. Her favorite! She ate many sticks, and she then went out. It was a Saturday, and a relaxing one at that. She had saved up almost $600 dollars, and she was saving up to buy a laptop. Oh, how she wanted one! She went on the corner of her street, and started playing her flute.
She mostly got dimes and nickels, and often just pennies people found in their pockets. She smiled to everyone, and played on and on.
A little boy came along, only about 6-9 years old, and 9 was pushing it.
“Hewo!” the little boy said with a babyish smile, “Aw youw a moosishun?”
Hayley smiled at the boy and stopped playing, “Yep!” she said proudly, “My name’s Hayley. What’s yours?”
“Macksheemilleeun!” He said, just as proudly, “And I’ma moosishun toowa!”
He took out a saxophone, and started playing ‘Silent Night.’ ”KWISMIS SOWNG!!!”
Hayley incredulously took out her flute and played along with him. They sounded wonderful together.
”I also have a sister!” he said, “Her name’s Buenania Neena. She is my twin, and she likes to play the bells!” A little girl came running along , and took out all things bells and/or bellISH. She took out your average bell, and she also took out the stick-like bells, and xylophones, and churchbells, AND even a cymbal on a stick.
They all played ‘Silent Night together, and altogether, they earned $162.84!!!! People were actually sticking around, hearing them play other Chrismas songs.
